SHAKUHACHI CHAMBER MUSIC INTERNATIONAL

SHAKUHACHI CHAMBER MUSIC COMPOSITION COMPETITION 2010
SHAKUHACHI CHAMBER MUSIC INTERNATIONAL PRIZE 2010

go to RESOURCES for tips on composing for shakuhachi.....either 5-hole or 7-hole shakuhachi is permitted.......the composition could allow for a change in length of shakuhachi during the performance. No more than 4 different lengths and allow time for the player to change flutes! ......supply shakuhachi scores in western staff notation

For this 2010 competition, composers are asked to submit new compositions of 10 - 15 minutes duration for shakuhachi with piano, cello and violin, in any combination.

SHAKUHACHI (5-hole or 7-hole)
PIANO
CELLO
VIOLIN

possible combinations of these 'solo' instruments are:
shakuhachi with piano, violin, cello
shakuhachi with piano, cello
shakuhachi with piano, violin
shakuhachi with violin, cello
shakuhachi with piano
shakuhachi with violin
shakuhachi with cello

The shakuhachi can be 5-hole or 7-hole and of any length. The use of 'standard' lengths may be wise. Please visit resources for further information.

Shakuhachi scores should be supplied in western staff notation.
Please download the latest "Rules" for precise details & requirements

A different instrumentation will be specified for the next competition.
