Yii Kah Hoe at myspace

Yii Kah Hoe is an active and renowned Malaysian composer. He was the winner of MPO Forum for Malaysian Composers 2 on March 2007. He was also awarded 3rd Prize of the International Composition for Chinese Orchestra organized by Singapore Chinese Orchestra on November 2006. Yii's music has been perceived as "bold, avant-garde and awesome." His stunning pieces are best seen and listened to, for his use of sounds and rhythm from many traditional instruments as well as from the ethnic and local cultures are unique. The sensitivity he mastered with space as a Chinese ink painter in his younger days now comes through in his music.

I have a lot of inner voices; they are all relating to my mind or spirit and influenced by many people. Some of them, I try to ignore and some of them are lost and tried to recall back. The musical materials used in my piece are intended to express or to reproduce the impression of my inner voices with an imaginary sense of the specific characteristic sounds. This piece, Inner Voices II, is considered as a revised version of my flute solo piece sharing the same title. I will keep researching on my 'Inner Voices', which means various versions of my pieces will have the title of Inner Voices. Perhaps one day, later, I will completely find my own inner voice(s) not inner voices
